The Dead-Tossed Waves

In this book Gabry and her friends cross the barrier to the other side of the town, the one they're not supposed to go to. It's a dangerous and mystery place that you're not allowed to go because you can encounter a mudo seeking human flesh. But like every teen they want to discover anything, even if it's prohibited and could put their lives in danger.
Gabry stays behind talking with Catcher (the guy she likes). They end up kissing when suddenly they hear a scream. One of their friends gets bitten, it had been a great night, then all turned into chaos. Unfortunately for Gabry, Catcher also gets bitten. Gabry now knows that he will turn into a Mudo.
Catcher tells Gabry to leave before he turns into a Mudo, so Gabry leaves before the militia men come leaving behind her friends. The next day Gabry's mom tells her that her friends were caught at the other side of the barrier and that the town will decide on a punishment later that day. Gabry feels bad because she knows that she's supposed to be in the same situation that her friends are in. Their punishment is, being sent to the recruiters for 2 years and they will not be allowed to claim the honors that come from such service. They will not be able to enter the protected zones. Not after their service. Not ever.
Gabry feels lucky having to escape such punishment, she goes up to the cage and whispers to Cira her best friend and Catcher's sister. Cira asks her about her brother but Gabry doesn't know where he is. Cira tells her to go look for him and find him if not she will tell that Gabry was with them too.
Gabry has no other option than to go look for Catcher but she's taking a risk maybe Catcher is already a Mudo. She could get bitten.
This is a great book if you want to know what happens next then I recommend you to read it.

The Terrorist By Caroline B. Cooney

In this book the main characters are (Billy and Laura) the Williams familiy. They're americans that just moved to London from Boston, Ma. Billy collects bricks because he thinks that they're different from America, he also collects other stuff like newspapers, stamps, toilet paper, etc. He's a fun kid to be around with. Laura is a teenager that cares about his looks.

But London is full of people that come from different countries running away from terrorist, wars, dictatorships. Billy is a kid that won't go unnotice because he is such a goofy kid.
Laura was a teen that cared so much about her looks. She was always talking about boys with her friends.
One time, after Billy and his two friends got off the subway, they raced home, a stranger took Billy's hand and gave him a package, the stranger told him that his friend had dropped it so billy took it, thanked him and ran. Billy had been told to not receive anything from a stranger, that's when it hit billy, his friends were not carrying anything at the subway.
Billy knew that this was a bomb but he couldn't place it anywhere without anybody getting hurt. Billy saw a woman with her baby and he ran away from them to not hurt them, that's when it exploded. The woman and her baby were ok but Billy's body parts were scattered all over the place. He knew he could have died and he did but while doing so he saved others.
Laura had a mission now, find his brother's killer but where was she going to start ? Her family didn't know who could have done such a thing, the police did not have any clues. London was full of people from different races and countries.

Al Capone Does My Shirts by Gennifer Choldenko

In this book the story takes place in 1935, the  main character's (Moose) family moves to Alcatraz Island, so that his father can work as a guard and his mentally-challenged sister Nataly can attend a special school in San Francisco. Nataly has attended many facilities before but nobody has been able to help her, no one knows what her problem is. Today it would be autism. Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life, and affects the brain's normal development of social and communication skills.

When they get to the Island, Moose has no problems making friends, but he doesn't have the chance to have fun with them since he has to take care of her mentally challenged sister Nataly, who is actually 15 years old but her mom says she's 10, and for 5 years in a row her mom has been celebrating her 10th birthday. Moose is 13 years old and her mom makes it seem as if he was the oldest.

One of Moose's friends the warden's daughter Piper (they both go to school in San Francisco) is a troublemaker who's always looking for a way to make money out of (Alcatraz) where they live. The warden prohibits Piper and anybody that lives in Alcatraz to talk about anything that happens in there. But she doesn't care knowing that she won't get caught. For example, she tricked her classmates into thinking that the convicts where going to do their laundry, it was her the one who did it and made them give her dirty clothes for a small amount of money.
